At Guitar Hunter, we provide expert appraisals of original vintage Fender, Gibson, and C.F. Martin guitars and basses made before 1980.
Whether you’re curious about your instrument’s current market value, preparing to sell, or need documentation for insurance purposes, we’re here to help. However, please note that we do not appraise modified or non-original instruments, nor do we appraise any brands outside of Fender, Gibson, or C.F. Martin.
We specialize exclusively in these three brands from before 1980—this is the field we know deeply, with over 20 years of hands-on experience. Because our expertise is focused on originality and historical value, these are the only instruments we appraise.
If your guitar or bass has been heavily modified or refinished, we kindly ask that you do not submit it for appraisal, as we are unable to assist in those cases. Our services are reserved for original, factory-finished vintage instruments only.
You’ll find a submission form at the bottom of this page.
What to Expect from a Guitar Hunter Appraisal
Our appraisal includes:
- Precise identification of the brand, model, and year of manufacture
- Evaluation of the instrument’s condition—its overall “health,” which greatly influences value
- Detailed originality check:
- Is the instrument 100% factory stock?
- If not, what parts have been changed—and how does that affect value?
We’ve handled hundreds of original vintage guitars and basses, giving us a unique reference point and sharp eye for authenticity. Because we work exclusively with original instruments, we know exactly what to look for—and what sets a true original apart.
Our appraisals are not just accurate; they’re rooted in real-world experience and daily interaction with the vintage market. We take pride in providing realistic, current market values—never just theoretical estimates.
Important: To ensure accuracy, we must inspect the instrument in person. Photographs are not sufficient to assess the fine details of condition and originality. All appraisals therefore require the instrument to be brought to our location.
Appraisal Fee
Our appraisal service is not free of charge. Due to the time, expertise, and precision involved, the fee is 2500 DKK (VAT included), unless it has been clearly agreed in advance that you intend to sell the instrument directly to Guitar Hunter.
Please clarify this before the appraisal begins. If a sale is arranged after the appraisal, the appraisal fee still applies. This ensures transparency and respects the value of our time and work.
We appreciate your understanding and your trust in our expertise. And you are always welcome to contact us directly…
