1964 Fender Stratocaster – Sunburst
We present an all original 1964 Fender Stratocaster in Sunburst finish. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
We bought this exceptional pre-CBS Fender Stratocaster back in late 2022 directly from the widow of the original owner here in Denmark. The story goes that her husband purchased the guitar in a local music store here in Denmark back in 1964. We sold quickly after requiring it, but now we’ve been lucky enough to trade it back in with the customer who bought it back in late 2022. The customer who bought it from us has truly loved and played this guitar for the past three years.
Condition
Overall, this Fender Stratocaster has been loved and played since 1964 – You can see it. You can hear it. It has a sizeable amount of play-wear spots on the back and sides where the finished has worn off. Lots of resonance in the body and neck. Beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard with clay dots that features the most beautiful Birdseye maple neck. The neck has some beautiful play-wear spots all over. A small and typical corner crack in the plastic tremolo back plate.
The original frets and nut are in okay condition with still some life left. The original 6x one-Line Kluson tuners are in perfect working order. The guitar also comes with its original and rare 4-ply celluloid green pickguard with white top.
Originality
This stunning ’64 Stratocaster is all original with no modifications or any repairs. Just like it left the Fullerton factory back in ’64 before getting shipped to the European market. It features the 3x original and untouched single-coil pickups. It features a mix of 2x black bottom pickups and 1 grey bottom pickup. They are well balanced and sound fantastic. It features the original “spaghetti” logo, which is rare because Fender only used “Spaghetti” Logos on export models in late ’64, otherwise they came with the transition logo since the beginning of 1964.
Pickups and the electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original Hagström export hardshell case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
