1966 Gibson Melody Maker D – Pelham Blue
We present an all original 1966 Gibson Melody Maker D in its original Pelham Blue finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This 1966 Gibson Melody Maker D in custom color Pelham Blue is extremely rare. It’s a fully painted solid-body Gibson Melody Maker — meaning even the neck is finished in Pelham Blue. Most examples feature color only on the body, with a natural clear coat on the mahogany neck. Very few were produced with a fully painted Pelham Blue finish.
It features a one-piece mahogany neck and a one-piece mahogany body, delivering a rich, full tone. The two single-coil pickups are responsive and well-balanced. It’s in great shape with some nicks, dings, finish checking, and other cosmetic wear. No breaks or repairs!
The original Pelham Blue finish has aged to a greenish hue over time. Overall, it’s a superb Gibson solid-body electric guitar with a full-size neck and scale length. It plays beautifully and looks stunning in its rare Pelham Blue finish. The SG-style Melody Maker features a comfortable, rounded neck, a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, and a factory “Maestro” tremolo tailpiece.
It’s 100% original throughout – Just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1966.
Pickups and electronics remain completely untouched and intact—no broken solder joints, no rewound pickups. All original and 100% correct.
Comes complete with its original Gibson hardshell case with yellow interior. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
