1955 Gibson LG-1 – Sunburst
We present an original 1955 Gibson LG-1 in its original Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This vintage flat-top Gibson acoustic guitar is a clean, well-preserved, and original example. The finish shows typical checking, along with a few dings and dents, but only minimal deep scratches. On the treble side of the lower bout, there are several surface scratches — likely from years of movement inside its case. The only visible crack repair is located along the treble side of the fingerboard. The neck’s sides and lower-position frets show light wear, but overall, this guitar appears to have seen relatively little play.
It features the original Sunburst top, dark-finished back and sides, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, and a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays.
An original Gibson plastic strap button is mounted on the heel. The tuners are period-correct Klusons, though it appears that a set of Japanese strip tuners was installed at some point in its past.
A solid playing and great-sounding example of Gibson’s most accessible flat-top acoustic guitar from the mid-1950s. Overall, this instrument is in excellent+ condition, with no breaks or major repairs.
