1955 Gibson LG-1 – Sunburst
We present an original 1955 Gibson LG-1 in Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This flat-top Gibson is a nice, clean and original guitar. The finish has checking and some dings and dents, but only a few isolated deep scratches. The treble side in the lower bout area has numerous surface scratches from banging around in the case for years. The only crack repair is along the treble side of the fingerboard. The finish on the sides of the neck and frets in the low positions show some light wear; otherwise, this one does not appear to have been played a lot. It features original Sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck; spruce top and rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays.
There is an old Gibson plastic strap button installed on the heel, and the tuners are the correct old Klusons, but at some point a set of Japanese strip tuners appears to have been mounted instead. Overall a good playing and sounding example of Gibson’s most basic mid-’50s flat-top guitar. Overall, in excellent + condition with no breaks or repairs.
