1958 Fender Jazzmaster – Blond – Gold Anodized Pickguard
We present an all original 1958 Fender Jazzmaster in its original Blond finish with a gold anodized pickguard. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
This is an incredible piece of Fender history and one of the rarest Fender guitars you can find. Fender began production of the Jazzmaster model in late 1958, and this particular guitar dates from November ’58—making it one of the earliest examples. The serial number of this Jazzmaster is 33030—Fender serial numbers from 1958 range from approximately 25000 to 34000.
In addition, this Jazzmaster features the custom color Blond finish, which is exceptionally rare to find this early, especially paired with a gold anodized pickguard.
Fender began promoting the new Jazzmaster model at the summer NAMM show of 1958 and officially launched production in the fall of that year.
Condition
This is an outstanding and exceptionally clean example of a 1958 Jazzmaster, overall in excellent+ condition. It shows a few minor nicks and dings on the body, along with some localized wear on the sides. The maple neck is clean and free of wear, and features a stunning slab rosewood fingerboard with clay dot inlays.
The original Blond finish is in incredible condition, revealing a beautiful ash body beneath—absolutely top-class. The six original one-line Kluson tuners are in perfect working order and turn smoothly. Both the original frets and nut have plenty of life left.
Originality
This guitar is 100% original with no modifications, breaks, or repairs—just as it left the Fullerton factory in 1958. It comes complete with its original bridge cover, tremolo arm, cable, and a period-correct instruction manual—not to mention the original tweed Fender case.
The two original black-bottom pickups sound powerful and well-balanced. This guitar embodies everything you’d expect from an instrument crafted during Fender’s golden age.
The original gold anodized pickguard is in exceptionally clean condition, showing only minimal signs of wear. The original amber switch tip is also fully intact. Notably, this November ’58 Jazzmaster retains the original round nut on the lead circuit toggle switch—Fender transitioned to a hexagonal nut later that same year.
The pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and fully intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups—completely original and correct.
It comes complete with the original Fender tweed hardshell case. All latches and the handle are in perfect working condition.
