1957 Fender Duo-Sonic – Desert Sand
We present an all original 1957 Fender Duo-Sonic in its original Desert Sand finish. Made in Fullerton, California.
This pre-CBS is a stunning example of an early Fender Duo-Sonic from the second year of production, 1957. Commonly known as Fender’s ‘student model’ guitar due to the 22.5″ (3/4) scale length, this little vintage guitar is a joy to play.
This piece of Fender history is all-original and in overall excellent condition, with a few nicks, dings, and other cosmetic wear from years of playing. It features the original Desert Sand finish, which was the standard finish during this period. The guitar itself remains structurally sound, with no breaks or repairs. It even comes complete with the rare original strap.
The maple neck has beautiful checking throughout, along with some areas of play wear where the finish has worn down to the bare wood—giving it a lot of mojo. The neck has never been removed, and we will not stress it off. The neck profile is a “V” shape, and the maple fretboard features the original 21 frets, which still have plenty of life left in them.
The original gold anodized aluminum pickguard shows some play wear and a faded spot just beneath the strings, but overall looks great with no breaks or cracks. It features the six original single-line Kluson tuners, all of which have clean and intact tuner buttons. It even comes complete with the original ashtray bridge cover.
It’s 100% original throughout – just like it left the Fullerton factory back in 1957.
Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original Fender hardshell case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
