Description & Specifications

1957 Fender Stratocaster – Sunburst

We present an original 1957 Fender Stratocaster in its original Sunburst finish. Made in Fullerton, California.

History

This pre-CBS 1957 Fender Stratocaster was purchased in 2019 from the original owner, who bought it back in 1958 (photo documentation included). As you can tell, he truly played and loved this guitar. We sold it at the time, and now we are fortunate to have it back from a collector.

Since then, it has received a professional refret and a new handcrafted bone nut by our guitar technician, Åke Westfelt, here in Denmark. The work was completed in February 2026, as the original frets and nut were worn.

The original frets and nut are included. The 1957 Stratocasters are among the most popular and desirable Strats from the 1950s.

Condition

Overall, this incredible Stratocaster is in good condition but shows significant playwear, finish checking, and various nicks and dings across the 2-piece alder body. It has one of the most stunning appearances we’ve ever seen on a ’57 Strat. The original 2-tone Sunburst finish has worn down to the bare wood in places, only adding to the breathtaking vibe and mojo of this guitar.

The maple V-neck shows heavy playwear — clear evidence that this guitar has been truly cherished. The original “Pat. No. stamped” steel saddles and hardware show aging and wear. The saddle screws have been cleaned to ensure smooth functionality.

Originality

This guitar is all original except for the new frets and nut; otherwise, it remains completely stock with no modifications – just as it left the Fullerton factory back in 1957. The original black-bottom pickups are strong and well-balanced. One of the original plastic tone knobs is broken — it’s included in the case and still functional if you’d like to reinstall it. In the meantime, we’ve replaced it with a period-correct replacement.

This is not just an amazing historical piece, but also a top-tier collector’s item and a superb playing guitar.

The pickups and electronics/wiring are untouched and fully intact — no broken solder joints, no rewound pickups. All original and correct.

Comes complete with the original hardshell tweed case, whammy bar, and photos of the original owner.
