1960 Fender Jazzmaster – Blond
We present an exceptional and all original 1960 Fender Jazzmaster in its original Blond finish. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
It was originally bought from its first owner back in 2021, and quickly found it a new home. Fast forward to 2025, and we’ve been fortunate enough to trade this wonderful guitar back into our inventory.
As far as we know, the story goes that Bobby and his brother played guitar and bass in a band called The Viscounts during the late 1950s and 1960s. Their most successful recording was a cover of Harlem Nocturne. Bobby told us he recorded it using this very Jazzmaster, the DeArmond tremolo, and a Bassman amp. You can clearly hear the DeArmond featured front and center in the track. Listen to the recording here:

The level of provenance that comes with this guitar is absolutely remarkable. Bobby kept everything: the original brown tolex case, cable, strap, bridge cover, tremolo arm, polish cloth, instruction manual, strings, hang tag, and even the tolex tag. On top of that, there are multiple photos documenting him playing the guitar in the early ’60s.
Condition
Overall, this 1960 pre-CBS Fender Jazzmaster is in excellent condition for its age, showing minor nicks, dings, and cosmetic play wear. There are no breaks or repairs of any kind. The ash body is exceptionally resonant and remarkably light for a Jazzmaster. Its see-through Blond finish is stunning and has aged beautifully to a warm yellow hue over the years. It features a dark rosewood slab-board with clay dot inlays, and the straight maple neck is perfectly intact, showing significant wear — clear evidence that this Jazzmaster has been both loved and played extensively. The original frets still have plenty of life left, and the original nut is intact as well.
Originality
This stunning 1960 Fender Jazzmaster is 100% original throughout — just as it left the Fullerton factory in 1960. The original owner played and loved this guitar, yet remarkably preserved it in its original condition.
It features two strong and well-balanced black-bottom pickups, both original. The six original single-line Kluson tuners turn smoothly and function perfectly.
The pickups, electronics, and wiring remain completely untouched — no broken solder joints, no rewound pickups. Everything is all original and correct.
Includes the original Fender brown tolex hardshell case with yellow interior. All latches and the handle are in perfect working order.
