1960 Fender Telecaster – Olympic White
We present an original 1960 Fender Telecaster in its original custom color Olympic White finish. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
This custom color pre-CBS Telecaster is much more rare than it might appears at first sight. Fender officially introduced their custom color chart around spring of ’61. This is therefore a pre-color chart custom color Olympic White finish. This Fender guitar was found in 2024 from the original owners daughter.
Condition
Overall, this amazing Telecaster is in very good+ condition with some obvious signs of wear at the armrest and a few spots on the body where the finish have worn off down to the bare wood. This guitar has been loved and played and have some incredible mojo. The original Olympic White finish is overall really strong bright White, since Fender didn’t used clear-coat in that time frame. Lovely play-wear on the maple neck that is also straight. Features a dark rosewood fingerboard with clay dots. The headstock is as clean as it can be – decal is fully intact.
It features the original nut and the original frets except for the first 6 frets. The frets have been dressed and it plays really lovely. The 6x original one-line Kluson tuners have rusted slightly but are in overall great shape and turns smoothly. The original 3-ply mint pickguard are fully intact with no breaks.
Originality
This 1960 Fender Telecaster is all original except for 6 frets (mentioned above). Otherwise it’s just like it left the Fullerton factory back in 1960. Completely untouched example. It even comes with the original strap and bridge cover also called ‘ashtray’. It’s everything you’d expect from a premium vintage Telecaster from Fender’s golden age period. A very rare piece of history.
Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and 100% correct.
Comes complete with the original Brown Fender hardshell case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order
