1962 Fender Jaguar – Sonic Blue
We present an original 1962 Fender Jaguar in Sonic Blue finish. Made in Fullerton, California.
This incredible pre-CBS Fender Jaguar in Sonic Blue is an absolute joy to play and features all the classic pre-CBS appointments, including clay dots on the dark rosewood fingerboard. This is the first year of production for the Jaguar, complete with a matching headstock. The maple neck shows some playwear, with small areas worn down to bare wood. It has a C-shaped profile—very slender at the nut, gaining noticeable shoulder and roundness further up the dark fretboard.
This rare Custom Color Fender Jaguar displays beautiful nitro lacquer checking, along with nicks, dings, and other cosmetic wear on both the front and back of the body. The original Sonic Blue finish remains vivid, with only minor yellowing in the body contours. The original nut and frets still have plenty of life left. The resonance of this instrument is immediately apparent when you strike your first chord, and its dynamic, soulful character translates beautifully through an amp. The Jaguar offers tonal flexibility, capable of delivering a thick, rich sound or a more sinewy, cutting tone.
Upon inspecting the bridge pickup with the plastic cover removed, a break was visible in the thin copper wire, resulting in a weak connection. To repair this, the solder joint at the pickup base was heated to detach the wire. A small broken section was removed, and the wire was then reattached beyond the break. The pickup remains strong and fully functional—no rewind required. Otherwise, the pickups and all electronics/wiring are untouched and original, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original Fender brown tolex hardshell case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
