1962 Gibson J-50 – Natural
We present an original 1962 Gibson J-50 in its original Natural finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This well-played vintage Gibson flat-top is a standout example from a great year for the J-50, featuring the original round-shouldered design. The guitar exhibits significant wear on the top from enthusiastic strumming, yet remains largely original and in excellent playing condition. The rim of the soundhole shows heavy wear, with visible pick wear above the fingerboard, along the upper bout near the soundhole, and especially below the rear edge of the pickguard.
The back of the neck has areas of worn finish in the lower positions. The original natural lacquer finish shows typical signs of age, including dings, scrapes, dents, and fine checking throughout. It features a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays. There is an old, professionally repaired grain crack in the spruce top — running from the lower edge of the pickguard on the treble side of the fingerboard to the edge of the soundhole. Otherwise, the back and sides are free from cracks.
Includes a modern hardshell case. All latches and the handle are fully functional.
