1962 Gibson SG Special – Polaris White
We present an all original 1962 Gibson SG Special in its original Polaris White finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
History
According to the 1962 Gibson price list catalog, the color is simply referred to as “White” rather than “Polaris White.” However, in common usage today, the color is known as “Polaris White.”
Condition
Overall, this amazing ’62 SG Special is in excellent condition with minor nicks, dings, and other cosmetic wear. No breaks or repairs. Just a stunning, clean example. The original white finish remains strong and has not faded much. It features a lightweight, one-piece mahogany body with a straight mahogany neck and a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. The neck is straight with minor play wear but is overall very clean. Original frets and nut are in good shape with plenty of life left.
Originality
This 1962 Gibson SG Special is 100% original throughout, just as it left the Kalamazoo factory in 1962. No modifications whatsoever. It features the original factory Maestro Vibrola. The six original Kluson tuners are all intact and work perfectly — even the tuner buttons are original. The two original P-90 pickups are well-balanced and healthy — they sound out of this world.
The pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes complete with its original chipboard case. The handle is missing, but the latches are intact.
