1962 Gibson SG Special – Polaris White
We present an all original 1962 Gibson SG Special in its original Polaris White finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
History
According to the Gibson pricelist catalog from 1962, the color is simply referred to “White” and not “Polaris White”, but in common speech today the color is called “Polaris White”.
Condition
Overall, this amazing ’62 SG Special is in excellent condition with minor nicks, dings and other cosmetic wear. No breaks or any repairs. Just a stunning clean example. The original White finish is still strong and haven’t faded much. It features a light-weight 1-piece mahogany body with a straight mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dots. The neck is straight and have minor play-wear but overall pretty clean. Original frets and nut that are in good shape with plenty of life left.
Originality
This 1962 Gibson SG Special is 100% all original just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in ’62. No modifications whatsoever. It features the original factory maestro vibrola. The 6x original Kluson tuners are all intact and works perfectly even the tuner buttons are intact. The 2x original P-90 pickups are well-balanced and healthy – they sound out of this world.
The pickups and the electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes complete with its original chipboard case. Handle is missing but latches are intact.
