1962 Gibson Southern Jumbo – Sunburst
We present an original 1962 Gibson Southern Jumbo in its original Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This stunning square-shoulder guitar is in excellent condition, showing no signs of crack repairs. The mahogany body features particularly striking grain patterns complemented by a beautiful spruce top. The lacquer finish displays attractive checking that wraps all around the guitar, adding vintage character. It boasts a rich dark rosewood fingerboard with elegant parallelogram inlays. The guitar is detailed with cream-black-cream binding on the top and single cream binding on the back and sides.
This Gibson Southern Jumbo offers a superb setup and outstanding playability. Its sound is exceptional, even with the original adjustable saddle intact. Overall, it’s a remarkable piece of Gibson history, featuring excellent action, an ideal neck angle, crisp highs, punchy mids, and warm lows.
Includes a newer hard-shell case with fully functional latches and handle.
Repairs done by a professional Luthier:
- Reglued plastic bridge.
- New nylon nut and the frets have been dressed.
- Newer bridge pins.
- Tuners replaced to modern tulip repro tuners.
- Strap button installed in the neck heel.
