Description & Specifications

1963 Fender Jazz Bass – Blond

We present an all original 1963 Fender Jazz Bass in its original rare Blond finish. Made in Fullerton, California.

The Fender Jazz Bass was introduced in 1960 as an upgraded model. With its sleeker “offset” body adapted from the Jazzmaster and a much slimmer 1-1/2″ nut width, it had a racier look and a more refined feel than the Precision. Multi-pole pickups provided a wider range of sounds, with sharper attack and greater tonal definition. The Jazz Bass was significantly more expensive than the Precision and, during the pre-CBS period, produced in smaller quantities.

Overall, this 1963 pre-CBS Fender Jazz Bass is an excellent example — a true pre-CBS Jazz Bass, played-in but remarkably well preserved over the years. It shows minor nicks, dings, and other cosmetic play wear. It features a slim, tapered neck and a beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard with clay dots. The headstock and neck are very clean, with only minor wear. The original tortoise plastic pickguard is flawless, with no breaks. The lightweight ash body displays stunning grain beneath the original Blond finish. The original frets are in excellent condition with plenty of life left. A perfect Fender Jazz Bass from Fender’s golden age.

it’s 100% original throughout – Just like it left the Fullerton factory back in 1963.

Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All original and correct.

Comes with the original brown hardshell case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
