1963 Fender Stratocaster – Sunburst
We present an exceptional and all original 1963 Fender Stratocaster in its original Sunburst finish. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
This outstanding pre-CBS Fender Stratocaster was purchased directly from the widow of the original owner in 2017 in Missoula, Montana.
Condition
Overall, this pre-CBS Stratocaster is in near-mint condition with only minimal nicks, dings, and cosmetic wear — an exceptionally clean example. The original 3-Tone Sunburst finish is absolutely stunning, with almost no fading. There are no breaks or repairs on this 1963 pre-CBS Stratocaster. The maple neck is clean and shows very little playwear. The original frets and nut still have plenty of life left. The neck features one of the most beautiful (veneer) rosewood fingerboards we’ve ever seen.
Originality
This pre-CBS Fender Stratocaster is 100% original throughout with no modifications, breaks, or repairs — just as it left the Fullerton factory in 1963. It even comes with its original white Tolex hardshell case, ashtray, tremolo arm, Fender polish cloth, polish tag, guitar strap, and key with envelope. It’s all there! A true time capsule and a remarkable piece of history.
The three original black-bottom pickups are perfectly balanced and sound incredible. The original pickguard, knobs, and backplate are in fantastic, clean, and intact condition—with no breaks. The original Kluson tuners turn smoothly.
The pickups and electronics/wiring are untouched and completely intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All original and correct.
It comes with the original white Tolex hardshell case, which is unbelievably well-preserved. The latches and handle are in perfect working order.
