1963 Gibson Southern Jumbo – Sunburst
We present an original 1963 Gibson Southern Jumbo. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This exceptional Gibson flat-top acoustic guitar features a hand-selected, high-grade spruce top and mahogany back and sides. The mahogany on this Southern Jumbo displays particularly striking grain patterns. The back and sides are in excellent condition, with only a few minor nicks, dings, and typical cosmetic play wear. Some beautiful, snaky finish checking and light dings are present — none are deep or puckered. There is some play wear around the soundhole, consistent with regular use.
The guitar has a one-piece mahogany neck with a stunning dark rosewood fingerboard. The neck binding near the original nut has slightly shrunk over time. This vintage Gibson features cream-black-cream binding on the top and single cream binding on the back and sides, all naturally aged to a warm patina. The original Kluson Deluxe tuners have been replaced with newer Gibson tuners, though the original tuners are included. A new rosewood bridge was crafted and installed by luthier Åke Westfelt.
Includes a newer hardshell case; all latches and the handle are in perfect working condition.
