1963 Gibson Southern Jumbo – Sunburst
We present an original 1963 Gibson Southern Jumbo in its original Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This Gibson features a highly select, premium-grade spruce top with stunning medullary rays. Mahogany back, neck, and sides — all showcasing particularly striking grain patterns. The back and sides are in great condition, with only a few minor nicks and dings throughout. Some light, attractive “snaky” finish checking and a few small dings are visible, but none are deep or puckered. A 2.5-inch crack on the back has been professionally repaired by a luthier. A strap button has been installed on the heel.
The guitar features a beautifully dark rosewood fingerboard and the original plastic bridge. The neck binding near the original nut has slightly shrunk — quite common on vintage Gibsons. This vintage model showcases cream-black-cream binding on the top, with single cream binding on the back and sides — all naturally aged.
The original Kluson Deluxe tuners have been replaced with new Gibson tuners (the original tuners are included). All original finish with no touch-ups or overspray.
This guitar boasts excellent setup and playability. It delivers a fantastic tone, even with the original adjustable ceramic saddle.
