1967 Gibson Melody Maker D – Fire Engine Red
We present an all original 1967 Gibson Melody Maker D in its original Fire Engine Red finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The guitar comes with a beautiful story. In 1968, a young man in Miami gave this guitar as a gift to the woman he had fallen in love with, hoping to win her over. He taught her to play, and she kept the red guitar for the next 50 years — along with one of the original Gibson lesson books in the case.
This model is acclaimed by players, teachers, and students for its fine sound, big tone, responsive pickups, and feather-light touch. Overall, it is in great shape, with only some dings and minor cosmetic wear. It’s a fantastic vintage solid body electric guitar with a full-sized neck and scale length. A superb player, and it looks stunning in its rare Fire Engine Red finish. The SG-style Melody Maker features a comfortable neck, a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, two great-sounding single-coil pickups, Gibson hat knobs, and a “Maestro” Tremolo tailpiece.
It’s 100% original throughout – Just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1967.
Pickups and electronics remain untouched and fully intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All original and correct.
It even comes complete with its original chipboard case.
