1969 Gibson SG Custom – Walnut
We present an all original and 100% complete 1969 Gibson SG Custom in Walnut finish. Made in kalamazoo, Michigan.
The SG Custom officially began life when the Les Paul moniker was dropped from what we now call the SG body after its brief run from 1961 – 1963. The SG Custom featured three humbucker’s and a lyre tremolo, with a white finish until ’68 when the standard finish became walnut.
This 1969 Gibson SG custom is super clean and we have graded this to near mint condition. Looks like it left the factory yesterday. Even comes complete with all the original hang tags. The 1969 model is with no Made in USA stamp and no Volute back on the headstock. It’s the real 1969 model that is way more attractive. It features solid mahogany body, 3-piece neck with bound ebony fingerboard with MOP- inlays. Original maestro Lyre tremolo that is in perfect working order.
The original Gibson pickups with “patent stickers” humbucker sound fantastic and are well balanced. The pickup covers has never been disturbed. All the Gold hardware are clean and shiny and looks like new. The controls include 3-position toggle switch (neck, middle/bridge, and bridge) and volume/tone controls for the neck and bridge pickups. The middle pickup is wired out of phase and this is original from the factory. The mahogany neck has a very nice and comfortable medium C-shape that is a joy to play.
Pickups and the electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and 100% correct.
Comes with its original Gibson Hardshell Case with Yellow interior. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
