Description & Specifications

1971 Fender Mustang Bass Competition – Red

We present an all original 1971 Fender Mustang Bass Competition in its original Red finish. Made in Fullerton, California.

Condition

Overall this fantastic bass is in excellent condition with minor nicks, dings and other cosmetic wear. You can tell that this bass has been played and loved, but at the same time been taking good care of. The Red finish looks stunning and strong and hasn’t faded much over the years. The original frets and nut are in good shape and have a lot of life left. The original pearl white pickguard is in good condition but has shrunken a bit like a lot of them tend to do.

Originality

This Mustang Bass is 100% original throughout with no modifications or any repairs – just like it left the Fullerton factory back in ’71. It features a light-weight alder body and a clean and straight 1-piece maple neck with a dark rosewood fingerboard with pearl dots. The original pickup sounds fantastic.

Pickup and electronics/wiring remains untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickup. All original and 100% correct.

Comes with a rough export hardshell case but it is in working order.
