1944 Gibson J-45 Banner – Sunburst
We present an original 1944 Gibson J-45 Banner in exceptional original condition. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This flat-top is a totally crack free piece and it sounds and plays unbelievable good. Gibson chose to use other woods for their guitars during the wartime. The mahogany neck is a full, rounded neck profile with a adjustable truss-rod (many Banner Gibsons do not have this). The fingerboard has a beautiful dark rosewood. Mahogany back and sides and mahogany top (due to wartime restrictions on spruce). A lovely wide dark brown sunburst top, and a perfect dark brown finish on the back and sides. It features Scalloped bracing to.
The strong neck shows beautiful play-wear spots and few nicks and dings and other cosmetic wear. Overall, the original finish is in stunning condition with gorgeous finish checking. The original open-back tuners is in perfect working order and turning great. There is a little horse water-sticker on the top. It can bee removed with water, but I definitely prefer to leave it as is, because it’s so cool. There is also added an old strap hook. I do not recommend to use it and I will let it be up to the next owner to remove it or just keep it.
