Description & Specifications

1953 Gibson ES-175 D – Sunburst

We present an all original 1953 Gibson ES-175 D in its original Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

This Gibson archtop hollow body guitar with Florentine cutaway is a fantastic player, featuring a chunkier ’50s neck profile. The original Sunburst finish is stunning, with beautiful finish checking. It features a one-piece mahogany neck, single-bound, with split parallelogram inlays on a dark rosewood fingerboard. The headstock carries the pearl Gibson logo and crown inlay.

The original hardware includes double P-90 pickups under black plastic “dogear” covers, the standard Gibson rosewood bridge, and a 5-ply beveled-edge pickguard. The original Kluson tuners are in perfect working order as well.

Overall, this vintage Gibson guitar is in excellent condition and 100% complete, with no breaks or repairs. The body and neck show normal cosmetic wear such as finish checking, nicks, and dings, but appear to have been well cared for over the years.

It’s 100% original throughout – Just as it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1953.

Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.

Comes complete with its original hardshell case. Latches are in perfect working order. Newer leather handle.
