Description & Specifications

1954 Fender Twin Amp Tweed 5C8 – Wide Panel

We present an all original 1954 Fender Twin Amp Tweed 5C8 – Wide Panel. Made in Fullerton, California.

History

This incredible Fender amplifier model was introduced at the NAMM Show back in 1952. It was the new highlight model from Fender, which later became one of the most sought-after Fender amplifiers of all time.

Condition

Overall, this fantastic Twin Amp from 1954 is in excellent condition — it’s extremely rare to find one this clean. The chrome control plate is clean, with all the lettering fully visible and intact. The tweed covering has some nicks, dings, and a few spots of light wear, but is overall in very good condition. The brown grill cloth is also in excellent shape, with minimal wear and no holes.

Originality

This 1954 Twin Amp is exceptionally well-preserved and completely original except the 2x original Jensen P12Q speakers have been re-coned in September 2025 by our skilled amp-technician Lars Vad (Vad Amps) here in Denmark – and in addition, one capacitor and tube has been replaced. It’s truly a pristine piece of amplifier history. It is undoubtedly a collector-grade amp, but also ideal for studio use. It delivers incredible headroom with a warm, powerful tone. Everything is intact, making it a dream come true for both collectors and players.

It features the original 5C8 circuit, which is untouched and fully original except for a replaced capacitor. Both transformers are original as well. As is common with these larger amps, the original leather handle was broken, which is one of the reasons Fender switched from leather to plastic handles on larger amplifiers in 1958. We have left it as-is, allowing the new owner to decide whether to replace it with a new leather handle or not.

Comes complete with its original cover — a very rare accessory.

To keep it as original as possible, you’ll need a step-down transformer if you’re based in Europe. We have these in stock and they can be purchased through Guitar Hunter.

We are more than happy to provide further photos upon request. Simply contact us by email or phone for details, including internal components like the circuit, tubes, transformers and more.
