1956 Gibson Les Paul Standard – Goldtop
We present an original 1956 Gibson Les Paul Standard in its original Goldtop finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Condition
Overall, this stunning ’56 Goldtop is in fantastic shape with nicks, dings and other cosmetic wear on the body and neck. Beautiful finish checking that really gives this guitar a stunning character. It features a one-piece mahogany body with a maple top, as well as a one-piece mahogany neck with a bound rosewood fingerboard and trapezoid inlays. The Gold finish looks stunning and only has a few minor spots where the finished has tarnished into a slight green finish-checking.
Originality
This incredible and historical ’56 Les Paul Standard is all original except for new frets and a new nut. Otherwise it’s exactly like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in ’56. It features the 6x original Kluson tuning machines with the original tuner buttons on – they work perfectly and turns smoothly. The original P-90 pickups are well-balanced and healthy and it goes without saying that they sound absolutely indredible.
It features the original tune-o-matic bridge which was first introduced on the Les Paul Standard model in 1955 and is one of the key features that makes this era of Les Paul Goldtops extra desirable. All the plastic parts such as the pickguard, output jack-plate, and toggle-switch plate (also known as the poker-chip) is all original to the guitar. The “Rhythm” and “treble” lettering on the poker-chip has faded but is still visible in the correct lighting.
Pickups and the electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes complete with the original brown Gibson hardshell case with pink interior. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
