1959 Fender Jazzmaster – Sunburst – Gold Anodized Pickguard
We present an all original 1959 Fender Jazzmaster in its original Sunburst finish with a gold anodized pickguard, made in Fullerton, California.
History
The Fender Jazzmaster was introduced in 1958 as Fender’s new top-of-the-line model, originally intended for professional jazz guitarists. With its offset body, innovative floating tremolo system, and new wide, flat-coil pickups, it represented a major step forward in Fender’s design evolution.
Condition
This is an exceptional and pristine example of a 1959 Jazzmaster, overall in excellent and incredibly clean condition. It only shows some minor nicks and dings on the sides. The maple neck is clean as it can be, featuring a beautiful slab rosewood fingerboard with clay dot inlays. The original Sunburst finish is in outstanding strong condition – truly top-class.
The two original black-bottom pickups sound powerful and well-balanced. This guitar represents everything you would expect from Fender’s golden era. The original gold anodized pickguard is in exceptionally clean condition with only minimal signs of wear. The original amber switch tip is fully intact.
Notably, ’59 Jazzmaster features the original hexagonal (“hex”) nut on the lead toggle switch – Fender transitioned from a round to a hexagonal switch nut in late 1958.
Originality
This Fender Jazzmaster guitar is 100% original throughout, with no modifications, breaks, or repairs – exactly as it left the Fullerton factory in 1959. It even comes complete with its original bridge cover, tremolo arm, instruction manual, original strap, and a handwritten letter from the original owner. Just incredible !
Note: The original owner believed the Jazzmaster to be a 1958 model, hence the handwritten date; however, it has since been verified as a 1959.
The pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints or rewound pickups – all original and correct.
Comes complete with the original Fender tweed hardshell case. All latches and the handle are in perfect working order.
