1959 Gibson Melody Maker 3/4 – Sunburst
We present an all original 1959 Gibson Melody Maker 3/4 in its original Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This vintage Gibson model has become increasingly rare to come across. First of all, because this isn’t just any Melody Maker — it’s a 3/4 model from the first year of production: 1959. It’s small and very fun to play. It features a one-piece single-cutaway mahogany body and a one-piece mahogany neck with a dark rosewood fingerboard. It has a gorgeous Sunburst finish with beautiful finish checking across the body. It features a single wide “bottom” white pickup that sounds fantastic. This rare pickup was only produced in 1959.
Overall, this vintage Gibson guitar is in excellent condition with minor nicks, dings, and other cosmetic wear, as you would expect from an almost 70-year-old guitar — but nonetheless a stunning example. The original frets have plenty of life left.
It’s 100% original throughout – just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1959.
The pickup and the electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickup. All original and 100% correct.
It comes with the original chipboard case, original hang tag, and original strap. It’s all there!
