1960 Gibson ES-335 TD – Sunburst
We present an original and early 1960 Gibson ES-335 TD in its original Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This historical piece comes directly from the son of the original owner. It’s in excellent condition with minor fading spots and other slight cosmetic wear. It is all original except for brand-new tuner buttons, as the originals tend to shrink over time. Otherwise it’s just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1960. The original owner had at some point installed Grover tuners, but with no extra holes — only the existing tuner holes were slightly enlarged. The original single-line Kluson tuners are now back on. Otherwise, no breaks or repairs on this Gibson ES-335!
The original frets still have plenty of life left, including the nut. 1-piece mahogany neck with bound rosewood fretboard and dot inlays. The original Kluson single-line tuners work perfectly and turn smoothly. This Gibson hollow body is the holy grail, featuring a rare pair of P.A.F. “Patent Applied For” humbucking pickups that are completely undisturbed and factory stock. The pickups sound amazing and are well-balanced.
The oval orange label is clean and intact, with the handwritten inscription “ES-335TD” and an A serial number. This guitar features ’59 specs such as a long pickguard, Bumble Bee capacitors, white plastic strap buttons, and no serial number on the back of the headstock — just like a 1959 model. The neck profile is not a ’59 or a slim 1960 neck, but something in between.
Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original brown Gibson hardshell case with pink lining. Latches and handle are in perfect working order. Also includes an original Gibson strap.
