1961 Fender Jazzmaster – Olympic White – Gold Hardware
We present an original and early 1961 Fender Jazzmaster in its original Olympic White finish with factory gold hardware. Made in Fullerton, California.
This 1961 pre-CBS Fender Jazzmaster is very rare to come across since it’s tough to find an Olympic White ( solid Custom Color ) from that era plus with factory gold hardware. Another ” bullet proof ” detail, the original Fender masking tape behind the pickguard says; Olympic White W. Gold. The Jazzmaster itself is powerful, resonant and extremely versatile. This is everything you’d expect from a guitar produced in Fender’s golden age period.
Condition
Cosmetically, this guitar shows a lot of “buckle rash” on the back and nicks and dings on the front and sides, with spots of notable wear down to the bare wood and an assortment of small nicks and scratches to the back of the guitar. The original Olympic White finish has aged over time but 100% all original finish with no overspray ! The gold hardware has become aged over the years and that look match the rest of this “killer” Jazzmaster.
The maple neck profile is so comfortable and has the most beautiful and unique flamed neck we have ever seen from that timeframe on a pre-CBS Jazzmaster. It features a beautiful dark rosewood slab board with clay dots. The original frets are great with life left including the original nut. The original black bottom pickups are very balanced and strong and sound incredibly good. Overall, just a stunning historical Fender Jazzmaster.
Originality
It’s all original except for one nickel tuner that was broken and changed to a period correct nickel One-Line-Kluson tuner. Otherwise, all original with with all factory gold including the gold truss rod nut.
Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original Fender brown hardshell case w/yellow interior. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
