1961 Gibson Les Paul Custom – Factory Bigsby
We present an all original and absolutely incredible 1961 Gibson Les Paul Custom “Black Beauty” with factory Bigsby. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
History
This historical Les Paul Custom “Black Beauty” is incredibly rare. Not only does it feature a custom-ordered Bigsby tailpiece, it is also one of the last Les Paul Custom’s (featuring the Les Paul body-shape) that was produced in 1961 before the model was replaced entirely by the SG Custom. Furthermore, this guitar feature the exact same specs as the famous Les Paul Custom from 1960 that Jimmy Page owned and played.
Condition
Overall, this incredible Les Paul Custom is in excellent shape with minor play-wear, nicks, dings and other cosmetic wear. There’s a lovely amount of gorgeous finish-checking all over the body and neck, and combined with the lovely gold hardware that has aged beautifully over the years, it simply all adds up to the amazing MOJO and atmosphere of this instrument. It features the original frets and nut, which still has some life left in them.
Originality
This ’61 Les Paul Custom is 100% original throughout – just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1961. Nothing has ever been touched on this guitar. It features the three original “Patent Applied For” pickups, also known as P.A.F. pickups, that sound absolutely incredible and extremely clear. The infamous P.A.F. pickups were only produced from late 1956 until late 1962 and are probably the most highly regarded pickups of all time. The three pickups are well-balanced and completely untouched — pickup covers have never been removed. The four black reflector knobs turns smoothly and are all intact.
The electronics and wiring are untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no re-wound pickups. Everything is all original and correct.
Comes complete with the original black Gibson hardshell case with yellow interior. The latches and handle are fully intact and functional.
