Description & Specifications

1962 Gibson SG Special – Polaris White

We present an all original 1962 Gibson SG Special in its original Polaris White finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

It features a wraparound tailpiece, bound rosewood fretboard, and 2 x “3 on a stripe” Kluson tuners. There is so much resonance in this one-piece, lightweight mahogany body. It’s incredibly lively and clear acoustically. The original Polaris White finish remains strong and is extremely rare to come across.

The Gibson P-90 pickups sound amazing and are well-balanced. They absolutely roar and can deliver everything from glassy, articulate cleans to growling, heavy overdrive with ease. The one-piece neck with a nut width of 1 11/16″ is a joy to play. Overall, it’s in beautiful shape with very minor nicks, dings, and other cosmetic play wear.

Back in the ’60s, a high-end Gibson hardshell case was an optional upgrade when purchasing a guitar. Chipboard cases were more common, as they were a way to save money. But here, the most valuable original case was included with this SG Special.

It’s 100% original throughout – Just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1962.

All pickups and the electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.

Comes with its original Gibson black exterior case with plush yellow interior. The original latches and handle are also perfect and intact.
