We present an all original 1964 Fender Jaguar in its original Candy Apple Red finish with factory gold hardware, made in Fullerton, California.

History

The Fender Jaguar was introduced by Fender in 1962 as their new top-of-the-line model, designed to appeal to professional players—particularly within the rapidly growing surf music scene. With its shorter scale length, complex switching system, and bright, cutting tones, the Jaguar was Fender’s most advanced and expensive instrument upon release.

It features a beautifully dark rosewood fingerboard with clay dot inlays, showing the classic early-’60s Fender aesthetic.

Finding a pre-CBS Jaguar  candy Apple Red with factory gold hardware is rare. Custom color Jaguars from this era are scarce in their own right, and the combination with gold hardware is simply stunning.

Condition

This pre-CBS Jaguar example is an absolute joy to play. The body displays beautiful nitrocellulose lacquer checking, along with nicks, dings, and honest cosmetic wear on both the front and back. The original frets have wear but is in good condition.

The original mint green pickguard is flawless, showing no cracks or breaks. The original gold “one-line” Kluson tuners are in excellent condition and function perfectly. The neck is straight, and the gold truss rod works as intended. There are some play wear spots on the back of the neck. Features a beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard with clay dots.

The factory gold hardware has naturally faded, adding to its authentic vintage character, yet it remains in overall fantastic condition. The original nut and frets still have plenty of life left. The original gold tremolo is included along with matching number hang tag.

Originality

This guitar is 100% original throughout—just as it left the Fullerton factory in 1964.

The electronics and wiring remain untouched and fully intact, with no broken solder joints or rewound pickups. No modifications – all original and 100% correct.

Comes complete with its original white Fender hardshell case, with all latches and the handle fully functional.
