1965 Gibson Firebird III Non-Reverse – Sunburst
We present an all original 1965 Gibson Firebird III Non-Reverse in its original Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Condition
Overall, this Gibson Firebird is an exceptionally clean piece with minor cosmetic wear and a few nicks and dings. No breaks or repairs. The original Sunburst finish is strong and has a beautiful glow. The original frets and nut are in very good shape with plenty of life left. The original white pickguard has shrunk slightly (which is common) but remains relatively clean with some tiny cracks around the screws. The body is a lightweight, one-piece mahogany construction with a standard glued-in neck. Straight one-piece mahogany neck with a beautifully dark rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays. The vibrato tailpiece is in perfect working order with no issues.
Originality
This incredible ’65 Firebird III Non-Reverse is 100% all-original with no modifications — just as it left the Kalamazoo factory in late 1965. The three original P-90 pickups are very well-balanced and deliver a dynamic, nuanced tone with excellent midrange fullness and punch. The tuners are original, intact, and turn smoothly. The gold reflector knobs are fully functional with no issues. The serial number is clearly visible on the back of the headstock and confirms a late 1965 production date.
Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original hardshell case featuring a black exterior and plush yellow interior. The original latches and handle are also intact.
