1966 Fender Jazz Bass – Blue Ice Metallic
We present a breathtaking and original 1966 Fender Jazz Bass in its original Blue Ice Metallic finish with matching headstock. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
The incredible custom color 1966 Fender Jazz is coming directly from the widow of the original owner. The Custom Color Blue Ice Metallic first appeared on the CBS color-chart in 1965, and has become one of the most sought after Custom Colors.
Condition
Overall this CBS Fender Jazz Bass is in very good+ condition with lots of beautiful finish checking, nicks, dings and other cosmetic wear. The original Blue Ice Metallic finish have faded to a gorgeous green-ish metallic look over the years, which really adds to the incredible MOJO and breathtaking atmosphere of this bass.
This is a result because CBS Fender used more clear-coat on their finishes than pre-CBS. There’s a few spots on the body, where the clear-coat has been worn off and you can see the un-faded Blue Ice metallic finish. The maple neck has quite a lot of play-wear and features a dark rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dots and bindings – a stunning combination in our opinion. And of course the matching headstock is the finishing touch. It features the original frets which still has a lot of life left.
Originality
This bass is all original except for a newer nut, because the original nut was done. Otherwise, it’s just like it left the factory back in ’66. The original Lollypop tuners are in fantastic shape and works perfectly. The original white plastic pickguard is perfect with no breaks. The 2x original pickups are well balanced and sound great. Even comes with its original bridge cover with the original foam and pickup cover. Its all there!
Pickups and the electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and 100% correct.
Comes with its original Fender hardshell case with orange interior. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
