1966 Fender Princeton Reverb Amp – Blackface
We present an original 1966 Fender Princeton Reverb Amp – Blackface. Made in Fullerton, California.
The Blackface Fender Princeton Reverb is one of the crown jewels of mid-’60s combo amps. This classic amplifier added a tube-driven reverb circuit to the popular Princeton student combo and has been among the most widely used recording amps since its introduction in 1964.
The original Jensen C10NS is dated to the 40th week of 1965, which aligns perfectly with the amp stamps and the reverb driver. The output transformer is dated to the 3rd week of 1966, and the reverb transformer is dated to the 1st week of 1966. This great brown/gold Jensen speaker was a factory option in 1966 and 1967. Amazing speaker!
The amp is definitely in the “great condition” category in terms of cosmetics. The metal on the chassis and elsewhere still sports its original factory shine with very little patina. The grill cloth is also in great shape, with some nicks and dings. The tolex is in exceptionally fine condition with no significant wear and tear.
The circuit itself is perfect and has been serviced with some new capacitors, tubes, and resistors so it runs flawlessly. It’s also been updated with a new 3-prong power cable and transformer so it can operate at 230 volts.
All channels work and sound incredible!
The original tube chart is present and very clean, with crisp corners and a hand-inked serial number.
Freshly and fully serviced — ready to be played.
