Description & Specifications
1966 Fender Stratocaster – Firemist Gold Metallic
We present an all original 1966 Fender Stratocaster in its original Firemist Gold Metallic finish. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
This incredible custom color Strat left the Fullerton factory in early 1966, although it is essentially a ’65 build. The neck is dated October 1965 and features a small headstock. However, since the pickups are dated early ’66, it was ultimately assembled and shipped out in 1966.
Condition
This 1966 Fender Stratocaster features one of the rarest custom colors of the CBS era – Firemist Gold Metallic. The finish has barely faded and looks absolutely fantastic. Overall, it’s in stellar condition with only minor nicks, dings, and other cosmetic wear. The back of the body shows slight finish reaction from prolonged contact with other objects that nitrocellulose lacquer does not respond well to, a normal occurrence with vintage finishes. This can affect the lacquer’s appearance but does not impact the playability, structural integrity, or value of the guitar, and it adds to the guitar’s character and life. It has a very small crack in the plastic back plate in the corner. Apart from this, it remains in excellent condition – a very clean example!
It features a beautiful, straight maple neck with a dark rosewood fingerboard and pearl dot inlays. The original wide frets and nut still have plenty of life left.
Originality
This fantastic ’66 Strat is 100% original throughout – just as it left the Fullerton factory in 1966. There is no doubt this is a true collector’s piece, but it also deserves to be played because it sounds incredible! It comes with the original tremolo arm. The six original double-line Kluson tuners turn smoothly. The 3x original grey-bottom single-coil pickups are well-balanced and healthy.
The pickups and all electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact – no broken solder joints, no rewound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original black Fender hardshell case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
