1966 Gibson Dove – Natural
We present an original 1966 Gibson Dove in its original Natural finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This exceptional flat-top Gibson acoustic guitar comes directly from the daughter of the original owner. Pam’s father purchased this stunning instrument back in the 1960s. Although she never learned to play, she preserved it carefully for many years. We at Guitar Hunter are honored to be its next custodian.
The 1966 Gibson Dove is the high-end counterpart to the iconic Hummingbird model. It features a full-sized, square-shouldered dreadnought body, a solid spruce top, and maple back and sides. The rosewood fretboard is adorned with split parallelogram inlays, along with a Tune-O-Matic bridge and the signature mother-of-pearl dove-inlaid pickguard.
This Gibson Dove is all original except for one adjustment screw. There are no cracks or breaks in the body. A DeArmond pickup has been installed; we’ve chosen to leave it in place so the next owner can decide whether to keep or remove it. Overall, this 1966 Gibson acoustic guitar is in excellent condition, with only light signs of use appropriate for its age — including subtle play wear and fine finish checking. The original frets still have plenty of life. To maintain authenticity, a shim has been added under the original nut to ensure optimal action and playability.
It even comes complete with its original Gibson black hardshell case, featuring a yellow interior. All latches and the handle are in perfect working order.
