1966 Gibson ES-355 TDC – Cherry
We present an original 1966 Gibson ES-355 TDC in Cherry finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
What makes this ES-355 TDC so unique is the fact that it was Gibson’s top-of-the-line ES model. The ES-355 TDC comes with stereo wiring and a Varitone switch. This Gibson ES-355 is all original, with the exception of brand-new frets and a new nut, installed by the highly respected luthier Åke Westfelt here in Denmark. Otherwise just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1966.
Overall, it is in very good condition with typical playwear, nicks, dings, and other cosmetic wear. The volume sticker is missing on one volume knob. The original gold hardware has aged over the years. The truss rod cover is 100% original – during this period, it was random whether it said “Stereo” or not.
It features a beautifully figured, double-cutaway laminated maple body with binding. Comes with its original “Patent Number Sticker” humbucking pickups, which are 100% undisturbed. The pickups sound amazing and are well balanced. The original owner wrote his mail letters on the original pickguard, which can be seen at the right angle.
The oval orange label is clean and intact, with handwritten ES-355 lettering. 1-piece mahogany neck profile, bound ebony fingerboard with MOP block inlays, Gibson Custom headstock with binding and split-diamond inlay. Original factory Bigsby tailpiece. The original waffle-back tuners work perfectly and are in excellent working order.
Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with an old Epiphone hardshell case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order. We believe the original owner purchased this guitar with that case. It was not uncommon to buy a random case.
