1968 Fender Champ Amp AA764 – Silverface – Drip Edge
We present a 1968 Fender Champ Amp AA764 – Silverface – Drip Edge. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
Fender introduced the new silver faceplate aesthetic, also known as “Silverface,” to their amplifiers in 1967. By 1968, the Champ Amp and Vibro-Champ Amp were also sporting the new Silverface design. The first Silverface amps featured an aluminum trim edge, now known as “Drip Edge,” like this model does. It’s also an indicator that this amp is internally the same as an earlier black panel “Blackface” amp.
Condition
Overall, this beautiful Champ Amp is in excellent condition with minor wear on the black Tolex. The silver faceplate is very clean, including all the stencils, which are fully visible and intact. The three black “witch hat” knobs are in good condition with no breaks. Featuring the infamous aluminum trim edge, now known as “Drip Edge,” which is well preserved. The grill cloth is intact with no holes or notable wear and features the original plastic Fender logo.
Originality
This 1968 Fender Champ Amp is all original with the original AA764 circuit — the same circuit as a Blackface model. The circuit is completely untouched. It features the original 8″ Fender speaker, which is fully intact and original. The original tube chart is present and intact. It comes with a newer 3-prong cord.
To keep it as original as possible, you will need a step-down transformer. We have these in stock and they can be purchased through Guitar Hunter:
