1968 Fender Vibro Champ Amp AA764 – Silverface – Drip Edge
We present an all original 1968 Fender Vibro Champ Amp AA764 – Silverface – Drip Edge. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
Fender introduced the new silver face plate aesthetic also known as ‘Silverface’ to their amplifiers in ’67, and by ’68 the Champ Amp and Vibro-Champ Amp were also sporting the new ‘Silverface’ design. The first Silverface amps featured an aluminium trim edge, now known as ‘Drip Edge’ like this model do. It’s also a indicator that this amp is internally the same as an earlier black panel ‘Blackface’ amp.
Condition
Overall this beautiful Vibro Champ Amp is in excellent condition with minor wear on the black tolex. The silver face plate is has some wear but overall pretty clean. The blue “Vibro Champ Amp” text and all the stencils are fully visible and intact. The 5x black ‘witch hat’ knobs are in good condition with no breaks. Featuring the infamous aluminium trim edge, now known as ‘Drip Edge’, which is in good condition. The grill cloth is all intact with no holes or any notable wear – features the original plastic Fender logo.
Originality
This ’68 Fender Champ Amp is all original with the original AA764 circuit – the same circuit as a ‘Blackface’ model. The circuit is completely untouched. It features the original 8″ Fender speaker that is completely intact and original. The original tube chart is present and intact. Note! Two screws on the inside behind the grill cloth is missing.
