Description & Specifications

1970 Gibson ES-335 TD – Ice Tea Sunburst

We present an all original and early 1970 Gibson ES-335 TD in its original Ice Tea Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

This semi-hollow body guitar is a great-sounding instrument and is in excellent condition with no breaks or repairs. It features a beautiful lacquer finish, and we have graded this beauty as Excellent+. The stock “Patent Number” humbuckers are powerful and articulate. The semi-hollow maple body provides a quick attack, characteristic of this tonewood, along with an airy, warm quality.

Acoustically, the tone is authoritative and clear, and this quality translates exceptionally well through the pickups. The neck has a profile that starts as a fairly slender C at the nut and quickly gains depth and shoulder, approaching a larger neck profile. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid block inlays.

The original frets remain in great condition with plenty of life left. The headstock has minor nicks and dings and features the original Kluson Deluxe double line/double ring tuning machines, all of which turn smoothly and hold pitch as expected. The orange oval Gibson label is clean, with clear text and a serial number that matches the stamped number on the back of the headstock.

The bridge is the original chrome Gibson Tune-o-Matic. The original chrome trapeze tailpiece is intact, along with the black hat knobs, stock pickguard, switch tip, and pickup covers.

It’s 100% original throughout – Just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1970.

All pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no re-wound pickups. 100% original and correct.

Comes with its original hardshell case, featuring a black exterior and plush yellow/orange interior. The latches and handle are also intact.
