1973 Fender Mustang Competition – Burgundy
We present an all original 1973 Fender Mustang Competition in its original Burgundy finish. Made in Fullerton, California.
Condition
Overall, this ’73 Mustang is in excellent condition, showing only minor nicks, dings, and cosmetic wear. It features beautiful finish checking across the body and neck, adding to its fantastic vibe. Over time, the original Burgundy finish has subtly faded into a greenish hue, giving it a unique character. The pearl white pickguard remains intact although there is a couple of minor cracks but nothing is missing from the pickguard. It features a small sticker on the back of the headstock from the music store it was bought from back in the day – we have decided to let it stay as it tells a story. Of course the next owner can decide whether or not it should stay. The original frets and nut show minimal wear and have plenty of life left.
Originality
This CBS-era Fender Mustang Competition is 100% original throughout, just as it left the Fullerton factory in 1973. Both original pickups sound fantastic — clear, well-balanced, and dynamic. The set of six original Fender tuners operate smoothly and still retain their original tuner buttons.
Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original Hardshell Case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order. The leather strap inside the case has been replaced.
Note! The guitar doesn’t come with a tremolo-arm.
