1935 Martin 0-17 – Pre-War
We present an original 1935 pre-War C.F. Martin 0-17. Made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
This guitar is completely crack-free and has been stored for many years without being played. Finding an example in this condition is nearly impossible. It’s a remarkable instrument — both a rare historical piece and a top-tier collector’s item, as well as a superb player.
This C.F. Martin 0-17 is an early and extremely rare 14-fret model, featuring highly desirable construction details. It has scalloped bracing and an all-mahogany body. The original Grover “clipped plate” individual tuners with peened cogs are intact — a rare and valuable tuner style that is often missing on vintage Martins. As is common with these models, the original plastic tuner tips had shrunk, so the cream buttons have been replaced with vintage-style replicas.
The headstock showcases beautifully figured rosewood with a gold Martin decal that has barely faded. The original ebony nut is in perfect condition and has plenty of life left.
This guitar has had a professional neck reset, and the original rosewood bridge has been reglued with a new bone saddle. It also features brand-new frets and a flawless setup. New bone bridge pins and a bone strap-end button have been installed — but the original black plastic bridge pins and end pin are included, preserving its authenticity. No strap button has ever been installed in the neck heel. This guitar is in perfect playing condition and ready to perform.
Though small in size, the voice of this 0-17 is astoundingly powerful — rich, warm, expressive, with exceptional overtones and sustain. It will surprise anyone from the first strum.
It comes complete with its original Geib hardshell case. The latches and handle are in perfect working order.
