Description & Specifications
1951 Fender Champion Model 600 Amp 5B1
We present an original 1951 Fender Champion Model 600 Amp 5B1. Made in Fullerton, California.
History
The Fender Champion 600 was an early low-powered amplifier intended for student use and instructional settings. Produced in the early 1950s, it played a role in Fender’s initial commercial stability during the company’s formative period. Compared to later Champ models, these early versions have lower output power and a simpler circuit design. At low volume levels they produce a relatively clean signal, with audible distortion occurring as the amplifier is driven toward its maximum output.
Condition
Cosmetically, this historical amp is in great shape. The original covering is in fairly good condition considering its age, though it has a spots where the covering has come undone. The front cloth is clean without any holes. The control plate is clean, and the graphics remain intact.
Originality
This ’51 Champion 600 Amp features the original 5B1 circuit and the original transformers. It features the original old 2-prong cord, since we want to let it be up to the next owner whether or not to replace with it, but we recommend to replace it with a new 3-prong cord. It features the original Oxford 6″ speaker.
To keep it as original as possible, you’ll need a step-down transformer if you’re based in Europe. We have these in stock and they can be purchased through Guitar Hunter.
