1952 Gibson J-45 – Sunburst
We present an original 1952 Gibson J-45 in its original Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This exceptional vintage flat-top acoustic guitar was owned and played by a folk singer, career teacher, and artist since 1960.
It features Cuban mahogany back and sides paired with a beautifully aged, reddish-brown Sunburst spruce top. Overall, this vintage flat-top is in excellent condition with a rich patina, tons of character, and honest playwear. The blackened peghead veneer shows typical finish checking, flaking, and scaling, revealing some wood beneath. The neck is completely original with no cracks or repairs, though it does show some natural wear through the finish in certain areas from decades of playing.
The original Gibson decal logo remains intact, as does the factory truss rod cover. There is a typical and well-known top crack beneath the pickguard, near the high E string. The fingerboard is crafted from beautiful dark rosewood and features large pearl dot inlays. The original rosewood bridge includes two pearl dot inlays at either end of the bridge pin row. It still retains its original tortoise shell-style plastic pickguard. The top edge of the guitar is bound in aged white binding with a black accent line, while the back is finished with a single-ply aged white binding. The soundhole rosette features alternating rings of aged white and black lines, completing the classic aesthetic.
Includes its original hardshell case. All latches and the handle are in perfect working condition.
