1956 Fender Stratocaster – Sunburst
We present an original 1956 Fender Stratocaster in its original Sunburst finish, made in Fullerton, California.
History
This exceptional pre-CBS Fender Stratocaster was bought from the original owner’s family a couple of months ago in the state of Colorado. The guitar is indeed very unique. It was purchased back in 1956 directly from Fender in Fullerton, California. The original Fender sales receipt is even included with the guitar, with the serial number of this Strat stated on it. This is without a doubt a special find that even comes with the original strap, polish cloth, and tremolo arm.
Condition
Overall, this spectacular pre-CBS Strat is in excellent condition with no breaks or repairs — just a well-kept piece of Fender history. The original 2-Tone Sunburst finish on the alder body is absolutely gorgeous and very clean. Not only does it look amazing, it’s truly a fantastic player with an incredible woody and resonant vintage tone. It has some nicks, dings, and other cosmetic wear, including some belt-buckle rash on the back and finish checking. The soft V maple neck is very clean, and the fretboard has a few spots where the lacquer has worn off. The headstock and decal are also very clean. The white tremolo arm tip is slightly damaged; all the other polystyrene parts are intact. The original frets have a lot of life left.
Originality
This 1956 Fender Stratocaster is all original, except for a new handcrafted bone nut (the original nut is included). The three original black-bottom single-coil pickups are strong and well balanced. It features a fantastic-playing soft V-shaped neck that is a joy to play.
This guitar includes early Fender specs such as polystyrene (Bakelite) parts instead of plastic. All the polystyrene parts are original to the guitar. The six original Kluson single-line tuners are present and turn smoothly. An amazing Fender Stratocaster from Fender’s golden age.
The pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All original and 100% correct.
Comes with its original hardshell tweed case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
