1957 Gibson Les Paul Standard – Goldtop Darkback
We present an all original 1957 Gibson Les Paul Standard – Goldtop Darkback. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Condition
This historic 1957 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop Darkback is in very good condition, while also displaying fantastic honest wear and classic finish checking. Incredible MOJO! There’s significant wear around the armrest area where the finish has worn down to the bare wood. The original frets and nut remain in good shape with plenty of life left. It features a one-piece mahogany body with a maple top, as well as a one-piece mahogany neck with a bound rosewood fingerboard and trapezoid inlays. The six original Kluson Deluxe tuners are in good condition, function perfectly, and turn smoothly. Notably, the weight is exceptional for a 1957 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop, which is itself very rare.
Originality
It is 100% original throughout, exactly as it left the Kalamazoo factory in 1957. This Gibson Les Paul Standard is the holy grail, equipped with a rare pair of P.A.F. “Patent Applied For” humbucking pickups that are completely undisturbed and factory stock. The pickups sound incredible and are perfectly well-balanced. No modifications or repairs. All plastic parts, including the pickup rings, are original and naturally aged — melted beautifully into the rest of the guitar. It has the original stop-bar tailpiece as well as the Tune-O-Matic bridge. The plastic poker chip (toggle switch washer) is missing — this part is very fragile and often breaks over time. We are leaving it off, as a Goldtop looks stunning without it. This guitar has been played and loved for many years, while remaining well-preserved in its original condition. Definitely ready for many more years to come.
Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes complete with its original brown hardshell case with pink interior. Latches and handle are in perfect working order. The hardshell case has some older repair spots on the top and sides for stabilization so it remains usable.
