1961 Gibson Melody Maker D – Sunburst
We present an all original 100% complete 1961 Gibson Melody maker D, single cut in Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This Gibson is super charming with a great neck and a wonderful sound. Overall, this guitar is exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Few nicks, dings and other cosmetic playwear. Just a very well-kept example with a beautiful original Sunburst nitro finish. It features solid Honduran mahogany body construction with a one-piece mahogany neck and with dark rosewood fingerboard with pearl dots inlays. The pair of single coil pickups sounds great and they are well balanced/strong.
The one-piece Honduran mahogany neck has a great C-shape with full-feeling shoulders in every register and notable heft and chunk as you travel up the fingerboard. The original frets have plenty of life left including the original nylon 1-11/16 nut. The original clean tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well with original white buttons.
The pickups and the electronics/wiring remains untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original Alligator chipboard case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
