1962 Fender Stratocaster – Olympic White
We present an original 1962 Fender Stratocaster in Olympic White finish, made in Fullerton, California.
History
This rare 1962 pre-CBS Fender Stratocaster is a collector’s dream. We are the third owner of this historic instrument. It has been well maintained since 1962 and comes complete with the original tremolo cover, tremolo arm, strap, and polish cloth.
Condition
Cosmetically, it shows nicks, dings, and scratches on the back, along with belt-buckle wear and other typical playwear. The neck profile and headstock face are exceptionally clean, with only minor signs of use. The original frets and nut still have plenty of life left. It features a beautifully dark rosewood slab fingerboard with clay dots. The original one-line Kluson tuners are fully functional and in excellent condition.
Originality
The original Olympic White finish remains strong and vivid, indicative of Fender’s early Custom Color production. This finish includes the correct Desert Sand undercoat—exactly what you want to see from this era. In the early 1960s, Fender did not use a thick or clear topcoat on Olympic White finishes, unlike later pre-CBS models.
This 1962 Stratocaster is powerful, resonant, and incredibly versatile—everything you’d expect from an instrument built during Fender’s golden age. It’s a phenomenal guitar, an exceptionally rare piece of history, and a top-tier collector’s and player’s instrument.
We believe one solder joint (ground) on a pot may have been reheated, but otherwise the wiring is untouched and fully intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All components are original and correct.
Comes with its original Fender brown hardshell case. Latches and handle are fully functional.
