1963 Gibson SG Special – Cherry
We present an all original 1963 Gibson SG Special in its original Cherry finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This Gibson SG Special is in near mint condition. It features a wrap-over bar tailpiece, bound rosewood fretboard, and 2 x “3-on-a-strip” Kluson tuners. There is exceptional resonance in this one-piece, lightweight mahogany body. It’s incredibly lively and acoustically clear.
The Gibson P-90 pickups sound amazing. They absolutely roar and can deliver everything from glassy, articulate cleans to growling, heavy overdrive with ease. The one-piece neck with a nut width of 1 11/16″ is a joy to play.
It’s 100% original throughout – Just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1963.
Back in the ’60s, a high-end Gibson hardshell case was an optional upgrade when purchasing a guitar. Chipboard cases were more common, as they were more affordable. But here, the most valuable original case is included with this SG Special.
Pickups and the electronics/wiring remain untouched and original, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All original and correct.
The original Gibson case features a black exterior with a plush yellow interior. The original latches and handle are also intact and in perfect condition.
