1964 Fender Stratocaster – Lake Placid Blue
We present an all original 1964 Fender Stratocaster in its original Lake Placid Blue finish. Made in Fullerton, California.
This rare pre-CBS Stratocaster is a true work of art and one of the most coveted custom colors ever produced. Few pre-CBS instruments are regarded as the pinnacle of Stratocaster tone from the 1960s—and this example is undoubtedly one of them.
Overall, this guitar is in excellent+ condition, showing only minimal nicks, dings, and light cosmetic playwear. The original Lake Placid Blue finish retains its vibrant hue with a subtle greenish fade, and the body features beautiful finish checking throughout. Lovingly preserved in its original case, this guitar has been a cherished instrument for decades. A true collector’s piece—but one that’s equally deserving of being played.
The original frets and nut have plenty of life left. It features a very comfortable C-shaped neck with a rich, dark rosewood fingerboard adorned with clay dot inlays. The original one-line Kluson tuners are fully intact and function flawlessly. Its black-bottom pickups are incredibly well-balanced and deliver outstanding vintage tone, with a comfortably low string action. The headstock, complete with its spaghetti logo, and the neck are exceptionally clean, with only minor signs of wear.
All hardware remains in remarkably clean condition. The original plastics show only the faintest signs of aging, with minor pickguard shrinkage and slight discoloration on the pickup covers.
It’s 100% original throughout – just like it left the Fullerton factory back in 1964.
Includes the original white tolex hardshell case, bridge cover, tremolo arm, and vintage guitar strap.
The electronics and wiring are completely untouched, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. Everything is 100% original and correct—inside and out.
